Anglers Paradise is one of the country's most well known fishing holiday destinations. Wonderful lakes, plenty of large and small fish, undisturbed and utterly peaceful fishing in the heart of Devon. Here is their latest fishery newsletter.
We have just played host to the 2011 Carpfest held on the 29th and 30th May which was hailed a fantastic success. Representatives of Korda, Mainline, Diawa, Trakker and Delkim. There was plenty to see with Diawa’s full range of rods and reels together with Trakker’s range of bivvies. The guys from Mainline were kept busy rolling samples whilst Korda’s Darrell Peck was determined to shine at the spodding competition. I don’t know how many times he managed to get the spod in the bucket but mostly he blamed the wind for missing. The weather held out on the first day which was well supported, slightly less on the second day where Devon’s heavy dew played a part, although Zyg insisted that it never rains in Devon unless someone has been wicked.
Outstanding Fishing
On the fishing front there have been some big fish and outstanding catches, most notably Jake Wilson with Carp of 33lb 10oz, 32lb 8oz and 24lb 8oz in the same session from the Specimen Lake. Simon Birchall with a 30lb 1oz Mirror from the Main Lake, Martin Rodgers with a Day ticket record Mirror Carp 36lb 04oz from Kraking Carp Lake and Richard Ryan with a 27lb Mirror from the Main Lake. Plenty of big Cats, 53lb from the Main Lake by Richard Ryan, 48lb 6oz for Terry Coleman. In addition to the above there have been loads of twenties from around the complex.
The coarse lakes have also thrown up some nice fish - 10lb Koi caught by Jordan Powell, 8lb 02oz Koi from the Float Lake by Brian Day, loads of nice Tench and Orfe.
