The 2011 Korda British Young Carpers’ Angling Championship will once again be taking place on the renowned Oxford Linear Fisheries complex in Oxford, but 2011 will see the event move onto Brasenose Two.
This fantastic event, organised by Angling Publications, the publishers of Crafty Carper monthly carp-fishing magazine, which is now in its eighth year, will commence on Monday 8th August until Sunday 14th August 2011 with a series of four day-only eliminators, which will see in excess of 130 junior anglers battle it out for a place in the 48-hour final.

Approximately 35 anglers will be entered into each of the four day-only eliminators taking place on Monday 8th August, Tuesday 9th August, Wednesday 10th August and Thursday 11th August. The top eight anglers who catch the highest weight of fish from each eliminator will qualify into the 48-hour final, which begins on Friday 12th August from 12 noon through until 12 midnight on Sunday 14th August.

Jake Taylor Takes The Title!
What an end to the 2010 BYCAC event with Jake Taylor taking the event lead once again with less than two hours of the match remaining. Calum Kletta was still catching but Jake Taylor was catching more frequently, although he was still losing fish. 3rd placed Mark Palmer’s swim seemed to die and his chance to stay in contention was slowly fading away, The pressure was really getting to all the lads – the combination of sleep deprivation, physical exhaustion and stress was reaching a climax in the closing stages and the tension was almost unbearable.
With less than an hour of the event remaining some daylight was opening up between Taylor and Kletta but disaster struck for Taylor when he lost decent sized carp that wiped out his other line. Kletta then promptly landed a carp weighing 10lb 13oz and Jake was furious with himself. He pulled himself together, continued spodding and managed to hook another carp moments before the event ending hooter sounded. Jake knew he was still in the lead by the narrowest of margins and jumped with joy straight into the lake – incidentally the fish he’d hooked fell off, but he didn’t care, he’d done it! Calum Kletta was devastated that Jake had beaten him by only 27lb and his family could do little to console him. Congratulations to all the competitors for what was an amazing final and a brilliant week for everyone involved.
