Sunny conditions greeted the competitors who took part in the Angling Trust RiverFest qualifier on the River Trent at Newark on Saturday 19th July. The winner on the day and the first competitor from this qualifier to go through to the RiverFest final on 15th/16th November was Paul Kozyra from York, who weighed in 41 lbs of skimmers and bream up to 6 lbs.
In second place on the day and to qualify for the final for the second time was John Urruty (Alfreton Angling) with 26 lbs 8 oz. Final qualification place into the final was John Barningham (Lincoln Whisby) who finished ninth in the match to take the lead over England International angler, Sean Ashby by only 1 oz. John had 11 lbs 1 oz from peg 42 on the Newark Dyke.

Qualifiers through to the grand final on the River Wye, at Hereford on 15th/16th November are; Paul Kozyra, John Urruty and John Barningham.
The next Angling Trust RiverFest takes place on the River Trent, Torksey to South Clifton on Sunday 27th July.
