From Mon 15th To Wed 17th Aug, Linear will be hosting a "Fish with the Stars" charity event for the MNDA (Motor Neurone Disease Association) to be held on both the Brasenose Lakes. We already have promises from over thirty of the top carp angling names in the country to take part in this August event. Just some of the names already booked in are Lee Jackson, Bryan Jarrett, The O’Connors, The Don, Tim Paisley, Iain Macmillan, Chilly, Ian Russell, Nigel Sharpe and Jerry Hammond.
As a guideline Linear Fisheries will be happy with a £300 donation to fish the event but will be prepared to consider sums lower than this. The donation will need to be paid in advance and bookings will be taken on a first come first served basis. In addition to taking part in the event anyone paying the guideline price of £300 will receive a 48 hour voucher, worth up to £52 to fish Linear's day ticket waters at any time in the next year. The donation will include fishing with a well known angler for the event, food each day in the way of a BBQ/Hog Roast on the Monday and Tuesday evening and a BBQ breakfast on the Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. This is not a competition but more a social event and anglers taking part can negotiate moving around with different stars over the three days – with excellent chances of learning carp fishing techniques from the experts. All proceeds will be going to two branches of the MNDA and to raise even more money for this worthy charity we also plan to have an auction and sell raffle tickets.

Alvin Roy and his Jazz Band will be giving their time to play for us on the Tuesday evening and a selected number of guests will be invited along for this performance. Linear Fisheries also plan have a few other well known faces, like John Wilson and Martin Bowler, just wandering round giving their advice during the event.
MOTOR NEURONE DISEASE
Some of you maybe unaware of this dreadful disease that kills at least five people a day in this country and for which, at present, there is no cure. If you wish to learn more about MND, information can be found on the MND Association website.Anybody interested in taking part and helping raise money for this excellent cause should email Fishery Officer Chris Blunt at chris.blunt2005@btconnect.com

The Italian Fishing Federation has released their calendar of events for next year’s World Angling Games in Italy. The host nation will organise more than 25 different competitions all within the same week at venues throughout Italy from 28th August – 4th September 2011.
Coarse, game and sea anglers will converge on the historic city of Florence for the opening ceremony on Sunday the 28th of August and then go directly to the venue selected for them by the Italian hosts.

  More than 50 countries are expected to take part, making this event an angling spectacular the likes of which have never been seen before.

  A few major  changes were made to some of the FIPSed rules at the recent meeting of the  technical committee for the Freshwater discipline;

  1. The Nations, European and World Club Championships will now be of 4 hours duration.
  2. The prebaiting period has been extended to 10mins.
  3. The age limit of the under 22s has been increased to under 23 years of age.

  Dick Clegg, OBE, International Events Manager, said “Italy is a fantastic place to visit and spectators will have great time watching the teams compete. The programme of events allows followers to switch from venue to venue since the finals do not all take place on the same day unlike the opening ceremony”.

  The Angling Trust, England’s national governing body for competition angling is affiliated to the World governing body CIPS and teams representing our country will take part in the FIPSed, FIPSmer, FIPSmouche and FIPScasting division of the games.
