The biggest river fishing competition in the UK is back for 2016 and as the competition enters its fourth year the Angling Trust has revealed members will be able to apply for tickets through a new online booking system. RiverFest 2016 gets underway on Saturday 18th June at Mirfield on the River Calder. Dates and venues for the 2016 Preston Innovations National Junior Angling League have been announced by the Angling Trust. Three new leagues have been added for Spring 2016 ensuring anglers in North Yorkshire, Humberside and Surrey will have the opportunity to get involved. In total, 10 leagues each containing four fixtures will be held on commercial fisheries spread throughout England, with some leagues beginning this month. The event will see five qualifying rounds taking place on some of the Canal & River Trust’s top Stillwater fisheries. The nation’s biggest canal angling competition is set to expand and become more challenging in 2016. For the first time, the Canal Pairs Championship will include regional qualifying heats in Wales, Scotland and Ireland as well as twelve heats across England. Periodically Kilnsey Park Estate hold clear-out events to clear out all the fish stocks from their lakes, to remove any fish which have become ‘fly-shy’ during the busy summer months, slim fish which have over-wintered, and fish which have been damaged or marked by predators.
