Nearly 500 of the nation’s top anglers are set to descend on the Shropshire Union Canal this month for the Angling Trust Division One National Championship. Britain’s biggest canal angling competition the Canal Pairs Championship is once again being held along the nations waterways. The Angling Trust has announced the dates for the 2016 Greys Junior Bank National. The six qualifiers will be held on small stillwaters throughout England and will begin in August and finish before the end of October. The grand final will be held at Ellerdine Fishery on 9th April 2017. Temple regular Gary Brown has just banked one of the most sort after prized fish in Temple, ‘The Ghost’ weighing a whopping 39lb 2oz. In immaculate condition, a number of anglers witnessed the catch as well as Bury Hill’s fishery manager Chris Wilmott.
